| WHERE WE WORK |
Santa Barbara Channelkeeper works to protect and restore water quality in the Santa Barbara Channel and its watersheds. We conduct monthly water quality sampling in the Goleta Slough and Ventura River watersheds, and monitor and restore kelp and eelgrass habitats in the Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary. Our advocacy and enforcement efforts seek to prevent pollution to the Channel from both land-based sources (such as sewage, urban runoff and agriculture) as well as from offshore sources such as cruise ships and oil drilling. We also work to protect our precious coastal wetlands, the largest of which are the Goleta Slough, Carpinteria Salt Marsh and the Ormond Wetland. |
