Channelkeeper’s mission is to protect and restore the Santa Barbara Channel and its watersheds through science-based advocacy, education, field work, and enforcement.
Clean beaches, healthy, flowing streams, and a teeming, resilient ocean that support a thriving economy, offer healthy habitat for fish and wildlife, and provide clean water and safe places for recreation for all people and for future generations.
In the Summer of 2022, inspired by the enduring importance of protecting the Santa Barbara Channel and its watersheds and expanding our programs and engagement with the broader community, Santa Barbara Channelkeeper began developing a plan to guide the organization’s conservation work over the next five years. In 2023, our staff and Board of Directors finalized our plan.
Channelkeeper’s new strategic framework represents the distillation of a year’s worth of discussions, research, stakeholder analysis, and planning into five bold strategic goals.
These goals will allow Santa Barbara Channelkeeper to build upon our legacy of effective clean water work and address present-day and future threats to the Santa Barbara Channel.
